WELCOME CENTER AND STREETSCAPES
WINDSOR, VERMONT
 View from above
The Welcome Center and Streetscapes project and
major improvements to the pedestrian paths in
downtown Windsor provide facilities for Amtrak
passengers and other visitors. The Welcome Center
component is the renovation of a former industrial
building adjacent to Central Vermont Railway to
provide a multi-modal transportation and visitor’s
center. The facility will include interpretive displays
related to regional and State history as well as
conference space for use by State agencies and
others.
The Streetscapes phase includes sidewalk
improvements and historical-style lighting installation,
and is critical to provide a transition for pedestrians
from the new Welcome Center on Railroad Avenue to
Main Street. The complete Streetscapes project
creates an attractive pedestrian network through the
downtown Windsor area.

Site improvements at the Historic Windsor House are
also a significant feature of the Streetscapes project.
The parking lot for the Windsor House is overdue for
