EVALUATION OF SMALL WATER SYSTEMS
STATE OF VERMONT
The State of Vermont Water Supply Division like other States is faced with insuring that the
thousand small public water systems comply with the numerous state and federal regulations
recently promulgated. These regulations include the
requirements for evaluation reports, long range master
plans, up to date
Operation and Maintenance manuals and sinking
funds for infrastructure replacement.
The Water Supply Division took a proactive
approach to the problem and offered to complete the
Evaluation Reports for systems making application at
no cost to the water system. The response was
overwhelming and about 100 systems applied for
funding. The Water Supply Division split the
state into four regions and received proposals from
18 engineering firms. Dufresne Group was selected to complete reports for
about 40 community systems in the Northeast Section of the State. The following
community systems took place in the first round of funding:
- Cady Pine Crest Mobile Home Park
- East Birkshire Water Co-op
- Passumpsuc Water System
- Mansfield View Water Association
- Alpine Haven
- Troy Water System
- Riverside Water Works
- Village of Jefferson
- East Hardwick Fire District #1
- Birch Hill Water Sytem
- Wheelock Fire District #1
- Burke Fire District #1
- Elmore Water Co-op
- Karme Choling
- Holbrook Bay Commons
- Albany Village
- Shattuck Hill Mobile Home Park
- Lyn Haven Fire District #1
Dufresne Group was recently selected to
perform similar services for about 40 additional small
public water systems for a second round of funding.
