Dufresne Group was awarded the design contract for Phase 2 of a water system capital improvement project in Bellows Falls, Vermont. Earlier this month, the voters of Bellows Falls approved an $8.2 million bond for the water system improvement project. The project has been divided into two phases. Dufresne Group previously designed Phase 1 of the project, which consists of improvements to the raw water intake, installation of a master meter vault, installation of a source control valve vault and installation of a meter pit on the Saxton’s River water main crossing. The design for Phase 2 has now begun and consists of approximately 20,000 linear feet of water main replacement, including the replacement of 6,600 linear feet of asbestos cement water main on Route 5. Phase 2 also includes installing curb stops along Route 5 from the Saxton’s River to Pond Road in anticipation of a VTrans paving project in 2015. Phase 1 is anticipated to be constructed this summer. Phase 2 will be divided into multiple construction contracts and be constructed over the next few years, with construction potentially beginning late this summer.
