Dufresne Group (DG) provided civil/site engineering for a 13 residential single lot subdivision on Rice Road in Hartland, Vermont. DG provided both topographic and land survey services using a robotic total station unit that significantly reduces time in the field. DG also served as the civil engineer, land planner, project team leader, and permit liaison coordinator for obtaining state, and federal permits. DG proactively worked with the following subconsultants to insure the Act 250 permit process was efficient:

  • Gilman & Briggs Wetland Consultants
  • Darryl Calkins Septic Services (on-site system site tech designer)
  • Richard Hodge, Agricultural Specialist
  • Hoffer Consulting (Hydrogeologist)


DG completed final design engineering for the project that included the following components:
  • 1,900 linear feet of roadway
  • 2,000 feet of gravity collection sewer
  • Two sewage effluent pump station
  • 150 feet of storm drain
  • 700 feet of force main
  • 12 drilled wells


DG prepared applications and obtained the following permits as part of the total consulting services:
  • Wastewater Disposal and Potable Water Supply Permit
  • Road Access Permit from the Town
  • Stormwater Discharge permit
  • General Permit from the Corps of Engineers
  • Act 250 State Land Use Permit
  • Stormwater Construction General Permit
