ACEC ENGINEERING EXCELLENCE AWARDS



Every year the Vermont American Consulting Engineer’s Council (ACEC) holds an Engineering Excellence Awards Competition requesting engineering firms to submit examples of their work that best meet the following criteria:
  • Meeting the Client’s Needs
  • Social /Economic Benefits
  • Degree of difficulty or complexity
  • Originality /Innovation
  • Technical Value to the Profession
  • Since the inception of our company in 1999, DG has completed several ACEC award winning projects including:

    GRAND AWARD WINNING PROJECTS

    • Montpelier Source Protection Plan The plan for protecting Berlin Pond was the first use of a Geographic Information System (GIS) for a Vermont source protection plan.

    • Springfield Pool Renovation Project D&A acted as a general contractor/designer on this design/build project which renovated the disinfection and diatomaceous earth systems in ten weeks to meet the June 21st pool opening deadline.
    • Cabot Wastewater Treatment Facility D&A designed the first Vermont tertiary wastewater treatment facility to use membrane filtration.
    • Bennington Water Master Plan The planning document for the # 1 priority project in the Vermont Water Supply Division list recommended the first use of ultraviolet light disinfection and chloramines for control of disinfection byproducts for a Vermont community water system.
    • Barre Trunkline Assessment Reports The reports documented inspections of 3.5 miles of 15” diameter to 30” diameter sewer main. The project included GIS mapping and the preparation of the first formal Preventative Maintenance Program for a Vermont municipality.


    MERIT AWARD WINNING PROJECTS

    • Chester Source Protection Plan The plan to protect two groundwater sources incorporated GIS for added value without an increase in engineering fees.

    • CWD 20-Year Master Plan The master plan document defines improvement projects for the complex CWD, a system that provides 11 MGD to 12 wholesale customers in a 76 square mile service area.
    • St. J Ctr FD #1 Water System The project used trench-less technology (directional drilling and fusion welded fittings) for complete water system replacement.
